MISSIONS & STRUCTURE

MISSIONS:

1. Provide physical security aboard the Vesta Class Multi-Role Explorer U.S.S. Schwarzkopf.

2. Provide planet-side security to all away missions.

3. Provide physical protection to visiting ambassadors, dignitaries, and other VIPs to the U.S.S. Schwarzkopf.

4. Defend and repel boarders of the U.S.S. Schwarzkopf.

5. Provide planet-side offense capabilities against hostile forces.

6. Other security & defense missions as dictated by the Commanding Officer of the U.S.S. Schwarzkopf.

STRUCTURE:

Based on the standard Starfleet Marine Corps infantry company, the 785th Marine Strike Group (MSG) is made up of the Command Group, Headquarters Platoon, First Platoon, and Second Platoon. First and Second Platoons are crossed trained in each other’s respective duties.

MSG Command Group is made up of the Officer-in-Charge (MSGOIC), Deputy Officer-in-Charge (MSGDOIC), and Non-Commissioned Officer-in-Charge (MSGNCOIC). These three individuals are responsible for the efficient command and control of the Marine Strike Group, maintaining the standards and requirements of the Starfleet Marine Corps expected of a Marine Strike Group and the esprit de corps of the Marine Strike Group.

The Headquarters Platoon assists the Command Group in the day-to-day operation of the MSG and sees to the supply, maintenance, and other needs of the MSG. Headquarters Platoon is led by the MSGDOIC and the Operations Non-Commissioned Officer (OPSNCO). The OPSNCO holds the rank of Gunnery Sergeant. The Headquarters Platoon is comprised of the Operations and Supply Squad, Maintenance Squad, and the Scout-Sniper Squad.

MSG First Platoon is comprised of three squads of Light Infantry Marines. First Platoon is commanded by a Light Infantry platoon leader, who holds a minimum rank of First Lieutenant, and a platoon sergeant, who holds the rank of Gunnery Sergeant.

MSG Second Platoon is comprised of three squads of Powered Infantry. Second Platoon is commanded by a Powered Infantry platoon leader, who holds a minimum rank of First Lieutenant, and a platoon sergeant, who holds the rank of Gunnery Sergeant.

MSG OVERVIEW

As the assigned Marine Strike Group to the Vesta-Class Multi-Mission Explorer, U.S.S. Schwarzkopf NCC-82605, the missions of the 785th MSG are:

(1) provide onboard ship defense in any boarding attempt by hostile forces,

(2) replace the nominal Security Department usually assigned to starships and carry out those security duties,

(3) carry out planet-side security missions in protection of away teams,

(4) carry out planet-side offense operations against hostile forces,

(5) provide boarding parties against hostile vessels, and

(6) various other missions as situations may dictate or designated by the ship’s commanding officer.

As a department of a STARFLEET International chapter, the responsibilities of the MSG will be:

(1) organizing and finding the appropriate equipment for the chapter’s sports teams and organizing the chapter’s internal sporting events as well as sporting events with other SFI chapters & SFMC MSGs/MEUs,

(2) organizing and arranging the equipment needed for the chapter’s camping and hiking trips,

(3) forming and equipping the chapter color guard, and

(4) providing security for chapter outings and events, and coordinating security with other chapter security departments/MSGs during multi-chapter outings or events.

STRUCTURE:

The MSG is centered on the infantry company model. The MSG is comprised of the Command Group, Headquarters Platoon, First Platoon, and Second Platoon. The Command Group is comprised of the MSGOIC, MSGDOIC, and the MSGNCOIC. These individuals are the ones with the primary responsibility of running, training, and maintaining the MSG at the proper readiness levels and adhering to the requirements of an MSG by Starfleet Marine Corps and STARFLEET International. The Headquarters Platoon sees to the day-to-day administration, supply, maintenance and other needs of the MSG. The Headquarters Platoon is nominally under the command of MSGDOIC, it is run day to day by the OPS NCO, who holds the minimum rank of Gunnery Sergeant. The Headquarters Platoon also has a Scout/Sniper Squad assigned as an offense weapon and intelligence gathering tool for the MSG. First Platoon is comprised of Light Infantry Marines while Second Platoon is comprised of Powered Infantry Marines. Though coming from different types of Infantry, both platoons are extensively crossed trained in each platoon’s primary tasks and duties.

UNIFORMS:

While on board ship, the Light Infantry Marines of the MSG are permitted to wear either the appropriate Starfleet uniform or the the D-1 (BDU) uniform as their uniform of the day. Powered Infantry Marines may wear the Armor Vehcile Crew Garment as their uniform of the day. The C-2 uniform will still be kept on hand as needed along with A-2 uniform for formal occasions. When engaged in security details for away missions or various combat operations, the Light Infantry will don their I18 Standard Marine Assault Uniforms (SMAU) with the Standard Marine Battle Armor System (STAMBARS) equipment and assigned weapons. The Powered Infantry will don a tactical vest with their holstered R970 Phaser Pistol, U374 Tactical Survival Knife with sheath, canteen with pouch, M856 Individual Medical Kit and equipment pouch containing their IRY414 Combat Tricorder, hand torch, lensatic compass, U206 Tactial Multi-tool, B981 Ground Maker Grenade, and III219 Personal Locator Beacon. The vest provides equipment for the Marine in the event that the assigned Powered Infantry Suit becomes to damaged and must be abandoned by the Marine.
