U.S.S. Schwarzkopf NCC-82605

The Schwarzkopf is a Vesta class multi-mission exploratory cruiser. She is named after General H. Norman Schwarzkopf Jr., a general of the old United States of America who led the coalition forces during the Kuwait War of 1991. Schwarzkopf was as much a philanthropist as he was a warrior and he was quoted as saying, “When placed in command, take charge.“

The Vesta class was developed out of the events of the Battles of Wolf 359 and Sector 001 as well as the Dominion War. While Starfleet’s mission has always been one of peaceful exploration, the lessons learned after the engagements with the Borg and the Dominion taught Starfleet that starships needed a bit more bite. The return of U.S.S. Voyager from the Delta Quadrant loaded with new propulsion and weapons technologies provided additional ideas for a multi-mission exploratory cruiser. The Vesta class is equipped with a quantum slipstream enhanced warp drive which allows short bursts of warp 9.9995. The new transphasic torpedoes and multi-frequency Mark XII phaser cannons are some of the most powerful weapons on any Federation starship, and the deflector shields are backed up with ablative armor and a double duranium/tritanium hull construction. Three shuttlebays provide storage for a range of small craft, including a landing bay for Danube class runabouts. A complete suite of science labs and a state-of-the-art Stellar Cartography system means the Vesta class is no slouch in exploration. Finally, the Vesta class is equipped with landing gear for use in gravity environments up to 1G.
